First seen at the beginning of the month, the Nokia Lumia 505 is now official, as it has made an appearance over at Nokia Mexico’s website.
The Lumia 505 is Nokia’s first handset to run Windows Phone 7.8 out of the box and, as previously reported, it is an affordable smartphone.
Feature-wise, the 505 resembles the Lumia 510 (launched last month with Windows Phone 7.5). The new device offers a 3.7 inch display with 800 x 480 pixels, 3G (850 / 1900 MHz), Wi-Fi, GPS, 8MP rear camera with VGA video recording, 800MHz single-core processor, 4GB of internal memory, and 7GB storage space on SkyDrive. The smartphone does not have a front-facing camera, and neither MicroSD card slot. Measuring 118.1 x 61.2 x 11.3 mm and weighing 131 grams, the 505 comes with a 1,300 mAh battery that can provide a talk-time of up to 7 hours, or a stand-by time of up to 600 hours.
Telcel (Mexico’s largest mobile carrier) is expected to launch the Nokia Lumia 505 in the coming weeks, for an unknown price, in three color versions: black, red, and pink.
Like all Windows Phone 7.x devices, the Lumia 505 will not be upgraded to Windows Phone 8. It remains to be seen if Nokia will introduce the handset in other markets. We will let you know if we hear anything about this.
