Earlier today we told you that some lucky Nexus 4 buyers have received shipping confirmations via email, while others, not as lucky, are being told that their precious Nexus 4 will ship at some point in the following three weeks.
In that latter category is our own Joshua Muñoz, who received the same terrible news from Google”:
Thank you for your recent purchase on Google Play. Due to overwhelming demand, your Nexus 4 is on backorder and is expected to ship within three weeks. We’ll send you a notification when your order has shipped and will credit the shipping charges.
Like him, other Nexus 4 buyers will have to wait a few more weeks to get their hands on the fourth-generation Google smartphone.
We have no idea how widespread this issue is. How many Nexus 4 buyers out there have received the bad news? How many Nexus 4 units have been sold to date? Google has sold out its initial Nexus 4 stock in various markets, but it’s yet to report sales numbers. And it’s yet to explain why some buyers will not get the Nexus 4 in the following business days, or why it continued to take orders once it knew the initial stock was depleted.
Of course, you can always cancel your order with Google and try to purchase the handset from a different source, either by going to T-Mobile or by checking out eBay and Craigslist.
Let’s hear it from happy and angry customers, are you receiving your Nexus 4 in the following days or in the following weeks?
